My mother and her husband have this dog they call “Baby”. They got her from the owner when he was taking her to be euthanized. They had just lost a dog they had for 10 years and it’s like they got this dog to replace her. She looks like a bully and she’s cute as a button but she’s aggressive and they aren’t doing a darn thing about it.

We live in a multi-generational home. It’s me and my husband and our two sons aged 7, my son who is 31 and his 10 year old son, my mother and her husband. We all split the bills 5 ways and we each have a utility or household bill in our name. No one is living off of anyone and we discuss household issues. This dog has become a serious household issue.

We had these two junk guys come to the house yesterday to get rid of some old grills and other things. Baby started barking at one of them. My Mom and her husband were yelling “baby no! Baby stop”! She didn’t slow down a bit and actually bit the man high up on his thigh; bad enough to bleed and require medical attention.

This isn’t the first incident. She also nipped my grandson that lives with us. Since then I’ve been saying “You can’t trust Baby. She shouldn’t be allowed around the kids. She definitely shouldn’t be playing with the kids”. I don’t allow her in the room while they’re eating. My Mom and her husband thought I was being unreasonable. They continue to let the grands (that’s my sons 4 kids…my grandchildren but I call them my ‘grands’). Two are there on the weekends (girls ages 4 and 5) and one who is 11 that comes and stays for weeks at a time whenever she pleases. I worry for all of the kids and continued to warn them that the dog couldn’t be trusted. They actually blamed our grandson for the dog nipping him! They said he was bothering the dog. I call BS because kids are going to be kids and the dog needs to be trained to know how to behave around kids. My kids can walk up to my dog while he’s eating and take his food and he will just look at them.

And TODAY the stupid dog went after one of my twin boys! My husband flat out told them that if the dog bite our son, she’d kill her.

Plus I have a 21 year old son that the dog is aggressive towards every time he comes over. She tried to bite him too!

I love dogs and I believe responsible owners must get their dog trained. I have a 12 year old rottie that was trained at Sit Means Sit. He’s never once bitten a person, another dog, or an animal. So please don’t come at me like I hate animals. I just love my kids.

Soon we are supposed to move into another house and I’m thinking about not participating in multi-generational living anymore. One day I think that dog is going to bite one of my grands and their mother(s) is going to be so pissed that we don’t get to see them again. What would you do if your child got bit by a dog while visiting with their father?
