Thanksgiving.. AITA?

I’m going to be 36 weeks pregnant with twins by thanksgiving and I have a 2 year old. My MIL hosts thanksgiving every year. It’s an hour away in a small house that is not childproof with lots of family members. 
I told my husband that I have no interest in going this year. I’m already larger than I was with my daughter, I don’t want to have to stress about my daughter running around in the house, and there will be family members who are traveling and I don’t want to get covid/flu/anything just before I’m set to have these babies since I won’t be going past 38 weeks. 
My MIL is trying to make it seem like we’re not going as a personal attack on her. We told her we’d be happy to see her the day before if she wanted to come over to our house. 
Am I the asshole? My hormones are getting the better of me right now lol

Not at all!!! My in laws are going to having thanksgiving with my husbands grandparents 3 hours from our home and we aren’t going because I’ll be 39 weeks and don’t want to be that far from home/my hospital. No one is upset at all. Being 36 weeks with twins is like being 39 weeks in my eyes 🤣

Not at all, our family thanksgiving is only 15 minutes away & I won’t be going since I will be 38 weeks & someone is alllllways sick & we always get sick after we visit which is why I told them we won’t be there for Christmas either this year. We are inviting everyone to our daughters birthday which is the end of this month & that will be our last big get together until the baby is here & we are out of flu season. My daughter got RSV when she was almost two months due to a Christmas get together & she had to be hospitalized so I’m not risking anything this time around.

My in-laws are 3 hours away and I’ll be 34 weeks with twins. We already told them that we won’t be there. She was upset and asked my husband and kids to some but my husband said absolutely no since the twins can come at anytime. 
I’m pregnant with mono/di twins and am expected to only go to 36 weeks. 
We also informed them that if the want to see us before the twins come, we won’t be traveling up to them past 30 weeks so they will need to come down to us. It is what it is.

Nah I don’t think you’re the asshole, I’ll be 36 weeks 5 days on thanksgiving and I don’t even want to go 45 minutes away to my brother in laws house because our hospital is 45 mins the other way from us so we would be like 1.5 away if something were to happen. Im high risk and already have no travel orders from my doctor im supposed to stay within 2 hours of the hospital. We are planning on either going to my aunts house (20 mins away) or seeing if in laws want to host instead (5 mins away). We all pitch in and cook so it doesn’t really matter where we have it.

No. It’s not a reasonable ask. Don’t have to bring up all the germs and baby proofing issues - that might be a little offensive - but with twins that is WAAAYYY too late to be traveling so far away from your hospital.

Nope we agreed to Thanksgiving back in mid summer not really thinking about how close it was to our due date and chose to cancel. We are also the bad guys in their eyes everyone seems to think we are being silly except 2 of my sisters. Let them be offended better to play the safe side to keep everyone healthy and prepared.

Nooooooooo.  NTA!! My hubby and I literally had this conversation today! I’ll be 38 weeks with my son and he said depending on how I feel we don’t have to go to his dads 45 min away. Specially since I have GD and my back pain has been getting worse. Plus his little sister is crazy and always underfoot. I also get overstimulated easily and that can raise my anxiety. He said we could host at home so I can be comfortable and have a potluck style but his dad plans things so late that we don’t even know what we’re doing. 
Like he literally plans birthday parties for his 6 year old daughter the day of and tells everyone that day. Most of the time when he plans things we have to skip because we have other engagements. 
We also talked about Christmas. My baby boy is due 12/8. My mom will be here from the 1-19th to help us with whatever we need. I asked hubs if he wanted to do Christmas at his dads on Christmas Day sound that’s what we always do and he straight up said no. Because his little sister is crazy and because he wants to make sure i and baby are comfortable. He said we can do something small and timely here but he’s going to be strict on time. He makes me smile to see him so protective but I hope his dad understands.

I just had my twins at 30 weeks due to preeclampsia via emergency c-section. Trust me being discharged from the hospital without your babies is not fun. Please do what you feel is best for you and your babies.

My mom is half hour away and I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant. I told her I might not be coming over bc every time I go over on a holiday we all end up sick and I don’t want to risk it right before going to the hospital.  So no, you’re not an ass hole. I’m not trying to have a cold while giving birth.
