We are going for our NIPT test next week, and our insurance doesn’t cover any of it. But thankfully they told me what the upfront cost was and it’s not that bad.

My insurance with my first two covered the testing 100%. No family history of anything and I’m not over 35. It really depends on the insurance. Some will cover if you’ve got family history, others if “you’re of advanced maternal age”. It all depends on your coverage.

In America it’s now recommended to all women and not just the high risk group. So now most insurances will cover it. Check with your insurance to see what they cover. You should give them a call anyways to ask about that and other things like how many days of infant care you receive after birth, what additional items do they cover besides a breast pump. Also ask what’s the max price of a breast pump they cover if you have your mind set on something expensive. Etc etc 🥰

Oh that’s a bummer, I’m sorry 😓 both of my insurances cover it and all other genetic testing

I called them today! They told me if has to be certain CPT codes and they cover it 100% based off the CPT code. She sent me a guide of the codes and they’re all genetic disorders that we don’t have or family have.

My co pay is $183. Which is better than last time when it wasn’t covered at all, my doctor uses Maternit21 so even if insurance doesn’t cover it they offer a survey so the cost goes down to $299. My insurance only covers it completely if you have a family history or are over 34.

Call your insurance company and see if they do. My insurance covers the testing.
