Breastfeeding prevents pregnancy ?

My daughter is 13 months old and ive Been getting my period a month after she was born , my husband and I started to be “ careless”  when I was 10m pp . I don’t track ovulation with OPKs I go by my cm and the faint cramps I would get on one side . I got my period on 9/11 & I believe to have ovulated on the 1st of October I have a 34 day cycle and my husband and I had sex the day before and the day of I’m supposed to start my period today and all negative test . Can breastfeeding prevent me getting pregnant I always hear 50/50

I'm very curious about this too.  My son is 14 months old, Stull nurses and I still pump 2xs a day.  I've been getting my period right on target and tracking ovulation with positives. Third month trying and still nothing.  I've heard both too but I worry that maybe when nursing the uterine contractions it causes is stopping implantation but also i have heard those are very small and similar to one's during sex so idk 🤷‍♀️

No. I got pregnant at 6 months postpartum while I was still breastfeeding/pumping. And that was before I had even gotten my first period

It's not BC, but it can keep you from getting pregnant depending on how sensitive your body is to it. For me, I could get pregnant a few months after my period came back, but my body kept rejecting the babies while BF and I had to stop. I'm currently 9 weeks now. I'm disappointed I won't be able to tandem feed my babies, but it'll be worth being able to carry to term.

No breast feeding does not prevent pregnancy, in a general sense. While every body is different, breast feeding is not birth control. Plenty of people get pregnant while breast feeding and before they ever have a period.

Breastfeeding doesn’t prevent at all. I ebf all my kids. I have two sets close in age. Both conceived when I was 6-7 months pp.

It can stop your periods (like it did for me) which would mean ovulation isn't taking place and you therefore cannot get pregnant. If you're having periods, you definitely can get pregnant.
