Do first babies always drop before labour?

Question

I am a FTM and until now I was thinking I would have my baby early, but I am now 39 + 2 weeks and I’m not starting to feel the opposite. He has not dropped at all visibly but at my last midwife appointment (38 weeks) he was 3/5th engaged. I have read that with first babies they usually visible drop days or weeks before labour.. is this always the case? Could I still have him any time?

My first didn’t drop and I didn’t loose my mucus plug or my waters until I was 6cm and had been in labour for 24 hours. 
This pregnancy she engaged at 34 weeks and I’m currently 38 with no signs of labour. 
In my experience it means nothing, my first labour started out the blue with no signs at all with strong contractions (there was no mistaking what was happening - 3 mins apart from the start) so don’t be disheartened you’ve had no signs. You’re just as likely to go into labour as anyone else xx

Nope mine didn’t and he was born 39+3 x

My baby wasn’t engaged at all a week before I gave birth (I didn’t think he was coming any time soon after my check up). I didn’t notice my bump dropping before going into labour. He was born at 39 weeks x

My first didn’t drop, was induced at 40wk 4d had her 32 hrs later. Barely had any dilation with her going into the induction.
