How tf do I get my 3 year old to stop screaming for things she wants while also validating her feelings?

My daughter literally cries for everything she wants now a days I’ve been telling her that she can’t scream and cry to get things she wants, but I want to start putting her in time out when she does, but I feel like it would be invalidating her feelings? Help

“i can’t help you when you are yelling. i don’t understand. we have to speak to each other calmly. i understand you are upset. can you take a deep breath and let’s try again?”

time out does not invalidate anyone it teaches them boundaries

We gotta stop with this idea that all feelings should be validated. Kids need to learn boundaries. Putting her in time out until she stops screaming is completely fine in my book. I do that with both of my kids and tell them I will talk to them when they’ve stopped screaming.

How tf do I get my 3 year old to stop screaming for things she wants while also validating her feelings?
