Anyone else’s 2 yr old HATE brushing their teeth??😭

I swear I have to hold him down as he scratches me just to brush tnem😭 even me mirroring it doesnt entice him lol
He just doesnt like anyone touching his teeth, and refuses to do it himself too
Im worried its going to cause issues ;( I feel like the worst mom ever and as a single mom i feel like i cant keep up and constantly feel guilty

My daughter used to cry and cry, I felt like I was torturing her. She absolutely loves Elmo, so I showed her music videos and books showing Elmo brushing his teeth and she became OBSESSED. I now have to hide the tooth brush because I’m afraid she is swallowing too much tooth paste…

Same here. Lol I’d get these and buy a foam toothpaste WITH fluoride so that it can sit in his teeth. My son loves these… he has been without washing teeth for a while because, I too feel like a bad mom for forcing washing teeth. I hate it, it’s a big no for me. I remembered me trying these out and I remember him liking it! So I’m ordering them on Amazon ♥️ it will wash alright, that’s why I say get a toothpaste with fluoride so it can do the rest of the cleaning by sitting in teeth.

I have to sing sings about teeth to get my 22 month old to say teeth so that I can brush it. You’re not a bad mom for tussling with him to get him to brush his teeth 😂😂
I tell you that because I have to put down a fight show every single time I have to do this task and I’m doing it for his own good and I’m not physically hurting him.

My youngest is the same way, he has sensory sensitivities. He was 4-5 yrs old and I still had to swaddle him to brush his teeth. He’s to big for that now and it’s definitely caused problems with his teeth as he won’t let me brush them and he’ll run and hide and modeling never did anything as well. I know how u feel with the guilt.

So when my girl was little and threw fits about brushing her teeth her occupational therapist (for eating issues) told us to sing the abcs when we did it. Start off doing it fast and don’t stop until the song is over. As they get used to it you can slow down the song. But it lets them recognize that they only have to get through the song.

My 2 year old likes to pick the color toothbrush of the day, I just have the whole pack in the drawer. And he became super interested after watching cocomelon episodes of teeth brushing. Some days he fights it but I just say something dramatic like OMG we need to get that yellow or mud or food off your teeth, watch!!

Teeth brushing is still a struggle for me and my kid is nearly 4. At 2 my child would sob and scream but husband would just have to hold her and I would brush as fast as I could while making sure to be thorough. It has gotten better but we have to play games a lot. My kid lays down and I pretend to be her dental hygienists and that is fun for us but if we're trying to leave the house and I don't have time to play and we need to do a good quick brush it is still hard. 
Has your child's pediatric dentist given any advice? Mine highly suggests against electric brushes and the "brushes" that fit in their whole mouth and just vibrate. At my kids last cleaning there was a kid who's mother said she knew his teeth were great because he has one of those brushes and the hygienist was horrified at how much junk he had all over his teeth and warned that that brush was absolutely not effective at all. 
I was suggested to do anything I can to distract, talk through and let my kid be involved. I sometimes have to figure something different out each brush.
I'll tell her a quick interesting story and if she stops cooperating I'll stop the story until she continues cooperation. I'll tell her I will brush first then she can brush all by herself and she likes that but for us the most effective method has been pretending I'm the hygienist.

My daughter hates it too. We started including her dolls or stuffed animals in her bedtime routine, so we pretend to brush their teeth first, and then we still have to kind of hold her still but we brush her teeth and then if she cooperates she has the choice of watching a short video of something she likes or listening to a song.

We do cartoons only at teeth brushing time and some other rare circumstances. Since it’s a cartoon time, he happily opens his mouth for anything. He’s 25 months.

Brushing my teeth is sensory overload, so even at 31 I still struggle. Not saying your child is autistic like me though.
