STILL Grieving?

My dog passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in May. Five months on, he’s still all I think about. Whenever I see a dog, I think of him immediately. I’m constantly welling up when he crosses my mind. I dog-sit my brothers puppy sometimes.. I adore him but at the same time, I just have that off feeling about other dogs now. How do I deal with this?

Grieving is a process. Even for a pet, something that we spend 24/7 with it can be just as hard or harder than losing a human. There actually are grieving counselors you can go to specifically for pet loss.
I'm going on 5 years after the sudden tragic death of my dog who I spent almost every day with all day long for 7 years. I am still grieving and I don't know if I'll ever feel healed from it. Grief has no time limit.

I still cry over pets who died years ago. They were an important part of our lives. The day will come where you realise you haven't thought about your pet all day, and then days will turn to a week or so. You never stop thinking about them, but they no longer occupy the majority of your thoughts.

I lost my dog I had for 14 years in 2018. I still cry over her. I tried getting another dog, but it didn’t work out for me. I’m so sorry for the loss of your fur baby 💔
