Taking Venlafaxine during early pregnancy

Has one ever taken Venlafaxine (Effexor) when you first found out you were pregnant? I’m scared to death thinking I’m going to miscarry if I keep taking it. I’m very early as in 4 weeks or so. I quit cold turkey 2 days ago but called my doctor & she said to take it until I can come in & see her to discuss my options. Just wanna get someone else’s opinion because I’ve done some research and it shows it can lead to birth defects!
