👍🏼 - what does this mean as a sender or receiver?

What does 👍🏼 mean to you. 
If you reply or press this on someone’s comment…are you agreeing with what they said? Is it sarcastic/rude to reply this way?
If it can be both, mention a scenario for either

If it’s an email letting someone know about a procedure in the work place, and someone sends the thumbs up, it means it’s been read and understood. 
If you send someone a message explaining you’re upset with them and are addressing an issue, it would be rude to send it. It’s kind of the equivalent of “good to know.” Lol.

Generally speaking, I use it to signal agreement, but more broadly, context has to be taken into consideration.

It's whatever the context/ tone of the conversation at the time means. I've used it in a sarcastic way, I've used it in a serious way.

For me it depends on context. If it’s work related and requires acknowledgment but not a full reply or a text from someone that will keep messaging me unless they know I saw their message, it’s an “I have read this message” sort of thing. 
If someone is pestering me and I’m irritated I get very short and it basically means “okay cool now leave me alone”😂
On the receiving end of things if someone sends me a thumbs up I take it as the same as above, depending on context.

I usually use it in a “ok, heard” way. Or if I’m busy and can’t text an agreement. 
But if my husband were nagging me over something he’s told me a thousand times I’d hit him with the 👍🏼 to be petty lol.
