Allergies

Kristina

Hello, I'm sorry if this seems like a silly question, it probably is, but I have to ask anyway.

I am currently 17w6d pregnant and I have a cat. This cat is my best friend. I know that might sound weird to some people, but he has gone through so much with me and I can't imagine life without him.

My question is multiple parts I guess. How likely is it that my child will be born with allergies to cats? Will my exposure to my cat during pregnancy lessen the odds of allergies in the baby? I have two children already and neither are allergic but this baby's father claims he is allergic to cats. Although I've never seen him have a reaction, nor has he taken meds before or during time with my cat. Could cat allergies be genetic? When baby is born, and if he is allergic, are there options besides rehoming my cat? I REALLY don't want to have to do that so literally any suggestions of alternative options are appreciated.

Again, I know it might be weird to some people since some don't like cats, but this has been a worry for a little while. Also, again, I know it might be a silly question and I do apologize. Thank you for reading and any input!
