Surprising Boyfriend

So this week I am surprising my boyfriend out of state and I need some advice on the whole tracking thing on Find My friends app for iphone. He constantly tracks me everyday (we’re healthy, we just like to see what we’re up to sometimes). I will be driving eight hours to see him and need a good excuse to turn off my location. I know how to turn it off without notifying the other person i text. But if he checks, it’ll say my “location is unavailable” and if he asks about this, what should be a good excuse? I was thinking of saying I updated my phone and it glitched my phone haha, but if you have any better ideas any help would be appreciated!

UPDATE: A LOT of you are saying our relationship is unhealthy but that was due to my poor wording. We track each other to make sure one or the other isn’t busy so we can call. Also, all of our friends and his roomates are in on this it’s a huge surprise for his birthday! I only say he constantly tracks me because one time my friend and I were doing a surprise for our boyfriends and we had to go to to the store to get it and it was on base and he asked me why I was on base (because we usually tell each other what we’re doing). It’s just history of trying to surprise him with my location on and I really want to surprise him because he’s been asking me to come up to see him. He likes surprises as so do I, some people are against it and uncomfortable with it, but that is what sparks SOME parts of our relationship.
