Did I do the right thing?

I posted last night about my guy friend sending me mixed messages. I took the advice I got and told him he shouldn't treat me like a girlfriend (flirting, talking about sleeping with me) if I'm not and just because his past relationships failed doesn't mean ours would. Now he seems upset and distant. Did I do the right thing?

You did do the right thing, you just might not get the results you were hoping for. Never feel bad for asking for what you need! Communication is so important in any relationship, and if you don't know where you stand the smartest thing you can do is just ask straight up, like you did. Give him some time to think it over and cool down, he'll either step up so he doesn't lose you, or at least you'll know for sure what's up, you won't be getting led on anymore, and you can move onto better guys.

I think being straight forward and honest is key in any relationship or friendship. If he's backing off he didn't like what you had to say, and I think that's a personal problem. I think you did what was necessary. Don't second guess yourself.
