AITA?
My SO wanted to do something nice for me for my upcoming birthday. He had done it for himself so he wanted to do the same for me. Earlier this year, my SO had his vehicle detailed by a friend of his, not an incredibly close friend, but someone he would consider a friend. We picked up his vehicle and he drove it home. When he got out, I noticed his pants were soaked. I was upset that the guy didn’t dry his seats but it wasn’t my vehicle and my SO didn’t care. He said he was going to have the guy do my vehicle too but I insisted that there was no need, I can take it to a car wash and do it all myself, it’s not a priority since I keep my vehicle rather clean and I didn’t want this guy detailing my car only to get it back with wet floors ( I have leather seats). Still, my SO had me drop my car off to this guy to detail it and I’m really not looking forward to the “reveal”. I know my SO was trying to do something nice for me but I wasn’t happy with how my SOs vehicle came out and I don’t want mine to be the same. If it’s not dry, it could mildew & mold. Who wants to drive around in a car that smells like that?
Am I the asshole for feeling this way?
***I do want to add that I love the thought he put behind it and always wanted to have my car detailed but he wouldn’t have done it unless it was this friend of his doing it. I did voice my concerns when he brought it up about taking it and my SO insisted that it’s normal for upholstery to be a tad wet because you can’t get it completely dry (I call BS) and that the reason his were still wet was because it was raining so his vehicle had to stay covered and couldn’t air dry with the windows down but still… no fans? How can someone provide a service and let someone leave with wet interior? I don’t want to sound ungrateful but I would have rather paid $200+ for a detail knowing it won’t come back wet. Granted, that’s why I never had it detailed to begin with because it’s so expensive.***
