lies in the office
So I've caught my direct supervisor on several lies.
I grew up with a narcissistic mother and have a relationship with someone who I feel might be a narcissist as well. I have learnt to pick apart those little lies.
So anyway, I have caught my boss on little lies... they are insignificant, completely. Which is also the crazy thing of why would they be dishonest about it..
Though the lies are completely insignificant, I feel it is causing a huge breach of trust on my part but they are so minor that I don't want to bring it up.
Like last night I had a little private meeting with them because I felt like my colleague (who is her favorite, which is important here) was deleting my work, my files, to replace them with her own. So you can check in files who has created the file and who last saved it, right? So I know my colleague has last saved it and I knew this before going into the conversation with my boss.
I talked to my boss, asking if I had done anything wrong because my files for the last few days had been removed and replaced by hers. My boss replied that, not my colleague, but they had been updating the file, not replacing it, even changing the core data for some reason(?) So I ask more questions like not like I'm questioning her but like "how do you do this because I feel I could do this better" and they basically danced around it, not even describing what had happened in this file... as if she didn't even know what was in there.
I feel like that's so insignificant because the work is done, but also I was once reprimanded for not doing this file because it's top priority but nobody had even filled me in on this being a task for our team or how to do it... so I get nervous when my files get deleted because I feel like I will get reprimanded again for not doing it. I just had to bring it up.
@Lolloh
I did save copies. I always do.
I work until midnight, my colleague (supervisor's best friend) works until 6:30am data might change, new info might come available. So I could understand that there are updates but to overwrite the entire file, I don't appreciate. We are not mailing because it's too many mails. Furthermore I asked for more aligned tasks, which was dismissed for years because "what we were doing works for everyone" (while it obviously wasn't) until a manager got involved and said that there had to be a plan. But now there's just tasks that are logged for everyone.. so it's not much different anyways 🙄.
But this specific issue isn't my actual issue. My actual issue is that my boss is lying and it's causing a breach of trust. There were more little lies in the past, and I just don't see why.. Like I think lying about pay raises is a bunch more heavy than what I caught my boss do. But repeatedly lying I just think that's wrong.
@Casey
I never said it was narcissistic behavior from my boss, I said this as an explanation to why I'm so sensitive to either on one hand identifying lies and on the other hand not finding lies acceptable.
