I give up

I took the advice of other moms on here and got insanely specific with my husband when I needed help with something. Today my Dad came over to use our oven to make my mom a birthday cake. I literally said to my husband “my Dad needs me to walk him through how to make the cake and frosting. Can you keep an on baby girl and make sure she stays out of the kitchen?”

He didn’t. My daughter was constantly in the kitchen asking to be picked up and crying and just anything else. I kept calling to my husband to get her. I said “Daddy can you please come get her” and he just called back “why?” When he did he was like “well what do you want me to do? She wants to be in here and walking around with you guys”

So even being detailed in what I need help with he doesn’t help. This morning he surprised me and got up with her and let me sleep an hour. Then my brother came over and I made pancakes for everyone with my little one under my feet. All while asking my husband to please grab her so she was away from the stove. Took me over an hour to make regular pancakes for us and gluten free for my husband. Then my Dad came over.

After having people in our house for a total of 6 hours, I could start on getting things picked up. LO was in our living room with my husband and I was putting things away in our pantry. He said he would keep an eye on her. So I go to close the door and she’s right there. I didn’t see her with things in my hand. The door slams into her foot cause her to go off balance, fall backwards and literally slam the back of her head into the wall. She’s SCREAMING and I started to cry. He comes in and is like “she’s fine. Stop she’s fine” and I told him I thought he was watching her. I was just trying to do a couple things and I hurt her. I was so upset. I felt terrible. He just walked away and laid on the couch. His reason is he got 7 hours of sleep last night and has a headache today. I sympathize but you don’t get to just check out of responsibilities because you don’t feel your best
