Parents who have adopted: how do you deal with judgment?
I recently had a family member tell me that adopted children, no matter what you do and how you raise them, are not your children. This family member is very anti-adoption, and said some things I honestly wouldn't have thought I'd ever hear them say. They even said they wouldn't consider the adopted child family, and would make sure the child knew it too. I was too shocked to say anything so I didn't.
Parents who adopted: how do you deal with people who tell you your child is not "yours" because you didn't birth them? How do you handle the negative comments?
Edit: not the parent of an adopted child, but if we decide on having a second child, we would adopt.
