I had an HSG in 2020 and it was the worst pain of my life when they had to manually dilate my cervix. I am extremely traumatized by it … and I have a high pain tolerance! Luckily I got pregnant that cycle. Trying for baby #2 and doc is recommending another HSG before IVF . She claims it won’t be as painful since I had a vaginal birth and cervix has opened up. Questions: 1) anyone able to tell me about pain differences between HSG before a baby vs after having a baby ? 2) anyone know why I’d even need an HSG if I do IVF ? I thought you don’t need tubes for IVF .

I had an HSG in 2020 and it was the worst pain of my life when they had to manually dilate my cervix. I am extremely traumatized by it … and I have a high pain tolerance! Luckily I got pregnant that cycle.

Trying for baby #2 and doc is recommending another HSG before <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IVF</a>. She claims it won’t be as painful since I had a vaginal birth and cervix has opened up.

Questions:

1) anyone able to tell me about pain differences between HSG before a baby vs after having a baby ?

2) anyone know why I’d even need an HSG if I do <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IVF</a>? I thought you don’t need tubes for <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IVF</a>.
