Question

Anyone else’s toddler think it’s funny when you yell at them? He’s 27 months old .I don’t know what else to do 😫

He’s too little. All he understands is that you’re having a big reaction and a lot of toddlers see that as a game, big reactions are their favorite whether it’s positive or negative. If he’s doing something you don’t like go and calmly physically remove him from it while explaining why he’s not able to do it. Immediately offer a distraction and then give him a big positive reaction when he does the newly offered acceptable activity. Stay consistent. They’re just learning!

Yeah my daughter is 25 months and she’s pretty much the same. I typically don’t yell at her anyways because it doesn’t do anything only teach her to yell. You just have to physically take whatever it is away from them or remove them from what they’re doing that’s dangerous/wrong. My daughter will have a mini tantrum for a couple of minutes then usually she just gets over it.

It’s normal. Some kids smile/laugh or act silly when they feel uncomfortable or nervous. On the inside, he is feeling shame/embarrassment or feels really uncomfortable seeing his Mom angry and he’s trying to lighten the situation and reconnect with you in the only way he knows how. He’s not doing this consciously, it’s just a defence mechanism.
I know you want him to act remorseful for his behavior, but sometimes it won’t LOOK like he is.  The behavior change is what you really want, not necessarily how he reacts while you are trying to teach him.

Yeah little kids do not rationalize and reason like we do because their brains aren't fully developed. Yelling is not the best reaction towards children. It's just showing them that mom explodes so I can too. Lots of small children may laugh and giggle when being yelled at because they don't understand the reaction and aren't sure how to react to it. Stay calm, explain, correct or redirect, don't yell.

I don't tend to yell at my kids. They're 5, 4, and 2 rn. But I get how frustrating it is to have a child laugh at you when you're frustrated. I don't recall my 5 y/o or 2 y/o doing it. But my 4 y/o is autistic and has trouble with other people's emotions. He ALWAYS laughs at me when he is getting in trouble or when I am getting frustrated. He's not trying to get a rise out of me. He just sincerely thinks we are playing a game. It's completely normal at the age your toddler is doing it, though.
