BBT newbie - can you help me understand?

This is my first cycle charting and there are still a few things I don’t understand. I’ve read here that you need three temperatures higher than the last six to confirm ovulation but fertility friend just says you need at least three “high temperatures”. What do they mean with high temperatures? Do they just have to be above the cover line? Please help me understand 🙏🏼

So, this is why people like fertility friend, it's considers all of your data to determine ovulation for you. The three higher temps can be a gradual rise like my October chart or a sudden rise like my November chart, in the Nov. Chart I need two more days of higher temps to confirm ovulation has happened. BBT alone will not pin point ovulation because your temps can fluctuate so much or barely at all.. its a grander scheme. But generally temps after ovulation are 97.60+ due to increasing progesterone.

I wanted to share my current chart to show how a cycle can vary based off ovulation, like I KNOW my period will be "late" this cycle cause it looks like I ovulated 3-4 days later than my normal CD13. Keep that in mind as well too, delayed ovulation means delayed period.

The first 3 temps need to be higher than the previous 6. They can fluctuate quite a bit after that

Essentially they’re meaning the same thing. 3 temperatures higher than the last 6. A lot of women their temperature will “spike” after ovulation and jump up to a higher number than before ovulation so they immediately have a “high temperature” some women it rises slowly over several days and in that case it takes longer to 100% confirm ovulation, both can be confirmed but it takes a couple of days of your temperature staying higher than it was before ovulation to “confirm”
