Meili Love's Birth Story
Note: 1 Previous delivery, 5 years ago was posterior, 2 unsuccessful epidural attempts and an emergency C section when I stayed at 9cm for too long and baby was in distress. Our first daughter is now just over 5 years old. 🥰
Our family was complete when our beautiful baby girl, Meili Love Cline was born at 3:25 am, November 13th at 6 pounds 15oz. A day before her due date.
I began induction at 4pm on the 12th. I opted for an epidural as soon as i could because you dont get more points for more pain. The epidural kicked in enough to give me some rest but at 2 or 3 am I woke up in excruciating pain at 5cm dialiation. Instintively i knew something was very wrong, it didnt feel like a normal contraction. When the nurse checked I had lost a lot of blood and there was concern of a potential placenta rupture. A c section was decided within minutes. In the OR Meili was delivery quickly, pink and crying. She had a good initial vital and physical exam and we were able to begin nursing right away, even in the OR.
Turns out the placenta was 50% seperated from the uterus prematurely. In addition i heard later that my original scar tissue was thinner then anticipated, the doctor could see the baby through it.
It had always been the plan that if i had another c section i would have a tubal litigstion done at the same time and if i had a successful vbac, i would get the tubal done afterwards. i was told after this c section that had i not chosen sterilization, a third pregnancy would be considered very high risk.
On the way to the OR i confirmed consent for the tubal litigation via removal of a section of the tube not just a tie off. Which in hindsight is the much safer choice considering the condition of my reproductive organs. Overall I lost over a liter of blood but didn't need a transfusion and my blood pressure dropped considerably bringing me close to losing consciousness in the recovery room. But getting more meds, some food and rest was all that was needed to feel better relatively quickly.
Our family is complete.
