Sore nipple

I am now 4 dpo expecting af Oct 10 (my birthday, so hoping it doesn't come for 2 reasons) today while my so and I were having sex he was playing with my nipples and my left one hurt so bad he had to stop. But my right one doesn't hurt at all. Any ideas on what would cause that?
