Rant! Redundancies
So we are a small team. My colleague was employed last year: I trained her, helped her, we became friendly, went out together, met with kids - I gave her loads of clothes from my kids as hers are younger.
One year down the line unfortunately redundancies are being made and she is among them. I’ve been here 10 years.
She claims to be happy about the redundancy as she needs a change I felt terrible for her as I know financially like most of us it could be very hard for her.
She was given an option to walk and get 1 month pay as a gesture of goodwill ( by law she isn’t entitled to anything ) or work 6 more weeks up til xmas get paid as normal and than start redundancy and get 1 month pay extra.
She chose to stay. But every day she explains she’s not happy to be here, she even said she’ll do bare
Minimum!
Problem is: her doing bare minimum with a careless attitude messes with my work as I need to report based on her work.
She knows this.
I feel sorry for her leaving but it really pisses me off her attitude.
When I was made redundant long time ago I worked u til last day finished all my jobs.
Do it with grace.
Now I could let her wfh so i don’y need to see her face and listen to her talk on the phone all day. But if she’s here to work she should.
How do others feel about this situation ?
Would you not finish ur work with grace ?!
