Traumatic birth story

MaryKate

I had my 5th baby in June! I hid my pregnancy from everyone except maybe 4 people! Well he is my 3rd High risk pregnancy- also had 3under3! But my birth story!!! I went in constantly because of my past pregnancies I was closely monitored. Well the further along I got the higher my blood pressure would get- but still be considered “normal”. At 35weeks I went into preterm labor, where luckily they stopped it and 2 days later I was sent home- however I continued to constantly contract and was in pain. Well I asked to be induced because of my history and because of my problems I had- my blood pressure would randomly sky rocket at this point. They said yes! The day of my induction they called and cancelled because it was crowded. But I called my OB to be put onto the monitor because I had a bad feeling. They said to go to L&D because they know me and that I’ve been right everytime. So I went and at first the nurse shrugged her shoulders and said I should have just waited till the next day when they’d have room because I was going all that way and would be sent home. Well the doctor came in, he checked me- I was at 3cm- the day before I was barely at a 1, they have me hooked to the monitor and realized his heart rate was also on the lower end- around 108-110. They decide to keep me just to keep an eye but wasn’t going to give anything that would advance the labor. I got put into a real room. Well 5 mins later his heart rate went unstable to the 70’s! Everyone rushed in- the nurse who doubted my feelings apologized and started to get emotional with me- I was a mess and in horrible pain! They gave me a quick shot of something to help raise his heart rate..

Contractions were 2-3mins apart when I went in but that was my normal since preterm labor. Well the rest was rocky I wouldn’t dilate on my own much they had to “stretch” me. I got the epidural at 8 1/2cm-they broke my water and had to hold baby down so my cord wouldn’t prolapse-he was very high up still, maybe 20 mins later I rang the bell at the same time his heart rate was dropping. Well I told her it’s time she didn’t believe me. They checked and sure enough it was time. The whole time I was pushing his heart rate would go between 40’s-60’s. Finally, pushed him out and they got him to cry and he is perfect! His vitals all went back to normal.

Here he is! My perfect miracle baby boy! He was 6lbs 11oz! Now I look at how big he is and I’m so amazed at how far he has came when they said he would have struggles.
