What do y’all talk about at dinner, or before bed with your husbands?

We don’t have children yet so they aren’t in the daily mix yet.

I am very bad at daily small talk. “How was your day?” “What did you do today?” My husband always ask me first bc I don’t think to ask those things. I usually just greet him with “I’m glad you’re home, what do you want for dinner?” Or sometimes what his plans are for the evening if they haven’t been discussed yet. But these convos are quickly over.

We have deep meaningful conversations often, but at dinner I have nothing to talk about. Also, it is hard for me to follow his work talk bc idk what most of it means.

Maybe we just need new topics to discuss?? I also avoid politics, religion, and social issues for daily discussions 1. We agree on everything and have talked about most points before so we would just be talking to hear ourselves 2. I get really into it and then I’m anxious/riled up.

It seems most of our engaging conversations lately happen in a group of friends.
