I’m looking at apartments and the prices are outrageous. The average rent in my area is $1,800 a month for a one bedroom. I make $20 an hour and I’m full time. It’s literally impossible for me to make enough to afford that. I’m tired of being judged for living with my parents at my age, but the alternative doesn’t seem feasible. I did what everyone advised me to do. I went to college and I got a job in my field. I make over double the minimum wage and will not be able to afford my own apartment.

I know people say you have to move, but why should I have to? Why should I have to leave the town I grew up in and live. The place my whole family lives. The area my job is located. Just to find housing that I can actually pay for?? It’s not right. I wish things were different. I wish this country actually allowed people to support themselves instead of stacking the odds against them and them blaming them for it.
