How to get baby to sleep in crib?

My 15 day old baby girl only sleeps on me or my husband’s chest. Every time we put her down on her crib, bassinet or doc-a-tot at night she stirs and cries within ten minutes. Every time. Sometimes she will sleep on her own during the day, but not at night. Has anyone else had this happen?

Look up active sleep to make sure you aren’t mistaking waking for active sleep.
Also look into the 5 S’s of sleep
It’s VERY normal for newborns to prefer contact naps more. They have only even been carried in a warm cozy womb.

This is just how the newborn phase is. Too many people only talk about newborn baby snuggles and how sweet and cute their baby is. They exaggerate the sweet moments to make for good content in their Facebook or Instagram pages. No one wants to hear that newborns hardly sleep and when they do it’s on you so you aren’t getting any sleep or anything done. The newborn phase is so so hard. I’m doing it right now with twins and it is absolutely exhausting. Some days I don’t know if I can keep it up, but I tell myself that everyday they are one day older and this phase will pass.

It’s totally normal, google the 4th trimester. My baby is 7wks today and will only contact nap. At night we took shifts for awhile and maybe the last 3wks we could put him down at night, but he refuses to be down after 5am, so then I hold him. Finding what they like to feel cozy in (swaddle, sleek sack, arms up, etc) is important. My first baby had to be zipped in a peanut sack to sleep at night. 2nd baby loved the arms up swaddle, this baby doesn’t like those and so far wants swaddled so he can escape an arm when he pleases. Also assure baby is up some during the day with appropriate wake windows.

My 5 week old still is this way. He had a week where he slept on his own and we thought we were getting somewhere but it’s stopped suddenly. I have found leaving him to stir for a while helps, but if he cries it’s game over lol. No good advice from me lol. Sorry
