My bf’s roommate is complaining that I don’t pay enough. I pay a portion of utilities since I sleep there most nights (I offered to contribute). But now he thinks utilities aren’t enough and we need to split rent 3 ways evenly. On nights I sleep over, I leave at 6:45am for work. Hours before his roommate is up. I go home to my own place after work. When my bf is off after 5, I’ll sometimes come over for dinner, or I won’t come over till later, 8-9pm or so, and go straight to his room. His roommate barely even sees me during the week! Some nights we’ll stay at my place but my bed is a queen, and my bf is tall and pretty broad and he’s only comfortable in a king bed. My room is too small to get one. But anyway, point is I’m not at their place except at night and during the day sometimes on weekends when I DEEP CLEAN the place because they get careless and will feed off each others messiness. His roommate also asked me to decorate because I have an eye for it. I’ve probably spent over a grand on decor and just upgrading their old gross things like their pots and pans, air fryer , wall art, throw pillows etc. etc. I’m out here scrubbing floors & walls when I don’t even live there, but I thought it was nice he lets me sleep over most nights (even though I do help with utilities). I’m about to take all of my things back home just to be petty. My bf has been sticking up for me and says there is no way I’m paying both my rent and part of theirs… so I don’t know what will happen, I don’t want to cause issues between them. They are good friends but even my bf says he’s the most selfish person. Is it fair I split the rent or is this guy just a jerk?
