I’m a total name nerd and last night I was looking at names on the Social Security website so there’s are 100% legit names that people actually used. I was looking at the Top 1000 names between 1880 to 1914 and a few I found interesting were Ransom, Unknown, and Newt. And not even at the bottom of the Top 1000, I’m talking 500-300 on the list. There were even colors like Pink for a boy, Orange, Green, and Brown. On a rando website I saw Lemon for a name and laughed saying that’s not a name but last night I saw it on the Top 200 of a 1000 so it’s a legit name too. It’s really quite fascinating to see some names appear and disappear over time and to see what people were named (naming their babies) over 100 years ago.
Besides the strange and weird, I did find some I liked. Like surprisingly Luna was on the Top 200’s. I really recommend Social Security for names, you really would be surprised.
Please let me know what you think. The easiest way to find baby names on the website is to google Social Security baby names and at the top is the link. On the website, scroll down to Popularity by Year and you can put in the year and select the Top 1000 for the list. Please check it out, you’ll be surprised and probably get some inspiration for your little one.
