Progesterone tablet

Hi ladies I had a miscarriage and my doctor had me do follow up labs and ultrasound she mentioned she was gonna send progesterone tablets to pharmacy what’s this mean what’s this for has anyone ever been on it shouldn’t I have been taking this while I was pregnant I lost my baby at 11 weeks I’m so confused
