Used Breast Pump

Question

Opinion on used breast pump…if cleaned properly. 
I have a instapot which I’ll be using for cleaning bottle, nipples etc. 
I have heard woman using used breast pumps.
Thoughts. 
I dont have insurance so everything is out of pocket so would like to either find a good affordable new pump or if a used pump is safe

Closed system/hospital grade pumps are considered safe to use secondhand as long as you get new valves, tubing, and flanges.

It's not usually recommended but as long as it's a closed system pump, it was cared for and cleaned properly, and you replace the tubing and the parts before use it should be fine. With my daughter i bought a brand new spectra and didn't like it. I ended up using a used Medela In style and it worked great for me

Rule of thumb: any hard plastic (bottles, flanges, etc.) Can be safely sterilized and used for multiple kids. Any soft plastic (nipples, tubing, etc.) Should be replaced for each kid since milk can permanently get absorbed into it, attract bacteria, and cause issues.
Yes, you can buy a used pump, but I would also replace the soft plastic parts to be safe.
