Step son has a crush on my daughter, should it be addressed?

My step son(13) is crushing on my daughter (17 almost 18). We have been in my step son and husband's lives for 2 years. I only found that out from his mom who read his journal and she was freaking out about it. He is only over here every other weekend which is changed to every weekend and Wednesday. Based on what bio mom said, this probably started when she stood up for him when he was being picked on. Should this be addressed?

That is an unbelievable breach of trust. I feel sorry for him. Not only did she read his personal journal, she shared the contents. I smell trauma brewing.
While in a perfect world, blended families would blend seamlessly and become like siblings. But that doesn’t always happen and in fact, this is normal believe it or not. He’s 13 and your daughter is not his biological sister, you’ve been together 2 years meaning he likely doesn’t see her as a sibling just an older young adult. Which will likely pass as he ages. 13 is a hard age, it’s confusing. 
The real issue is reading his journal.

I’d just let this go. I think the age gap is big enough that you can just pretend you never heard that. I wouldn’t make a big deal about it.

Absolutely NOT. They aren't siblings. They barely know each other after 2 years. His mother needs to leave him the hell alone and stop invading his privacy. He's a kid with a crush on an older teenage girl. That's normal. As long as your daughter wouldn't prey on a 13 year old kid there is nothing wrong here. Leave him alone. He'll eventually meet a girl at school he has a bigger crush on.

definitely needs to be addressed but cautiously. also don't say that his journal was read he will feel he can't trust anyone just say you have noticed how he has been acting around her. my best advice is take it easy and you and your husband choose your words carefully

It's not a surprise, especially given that sibling/step-sibling porn is one of the most searched for genres! But, I don't know how you can address it without the journal being brought up?! Maybe you could bring up laws of consent etc during your sex talk with him and mention the legal issue of step siblings as part of it?
