Test to confirm ibs?

Morning!! So last month I was diagnosed with ibs-d just based on my symptoms I have had since I was young, but I was wondering who had got diagnosed with ibs and what test they used to confirm your diagnosis?

IBS is a clinical diagnosis. Meaning there is no specific test. They just rule other things out then diagnose that way

Most of the time ibs is diagnosed when there isn’t another issue. So I got tested several times for gi issues by a gastroenterologist. From there, they rule out other gi diagnoses and then gave me the ibs diagnosis based on symptoms

Are you seeing a gastroenterologist? They are the experts and they will know exactly what you need. Usually you'd have a colonoscopy.

IBS is a very general diagnosis.. it just means you have digestive issues basically, there are no tests. They do not know what causes IBS or why people get it. It’s just based off of the symptoms you have.
