Ovulation Pain (Mittelschmertz)
I’m currently having ovulation pain (also known as Mittelschmertz) and it is the worst pain I’ve felt in a while. The pain starts from my lower abdomen to my tail bone. It also hurts to use the bathroom and makes me nauseous. I couldn’t stand up straight and cried from the pain. I ended up going to the hospital as I was worried there was something wrong from the amount of pain I was feeling. They did an ultrasound of my lower abdomen and my pelvis. Once the results came, the doctor told me I was, indeed, ovulating and what I’m feeling is the pain from an egg being released. I felt much better knowing there was nothing wrong and being educated on it. I was given some painkillers to help relieve the pain before being discharged. Ovulation pain happens 2 weeks prior to starting your period. During this it’s normal to see a little blood. Some do see and some don’t see, it’s normal. It last from a couple minutes to a couple hours. Some treatments include Tylenol, heating pads, warm baths, etc. I’m sharing this in hopes it reaches people who also experience this and can share some tips on how to tackle it as I’m new to this. I’m also sharing in hopes there are people out there who are also new to this need and can gain some basic knowledge. I was given a paper by the doctor with information and treatment, but I would like some home remedies as well, hopefully someone can share some 💙
