Negative fern test can my water still be broken?

Went in for my 39 weeks and 3 day appointment doctor went to check my cervix and said it was more liquid then she thinks she be down there. I’ve been having some gushes but only when i sneeze or cough so didn’t really think anything of it. She also stated that she didn’t feel the babies water bag, i was at 2cm dilated so she could touch the head but didn’t feel the water. So she did a quick fern test without the pelvic exam and stuck a q tip up there and swabbed around. It came back negative but she said that these aren’t always accurate and to go in if i feel anymore gushes and contractions. But I’m stuck on what i should do since i was just at my appointment should i go to triage just to be safe??
