Why are sitz baths recommended but not regular bath

Question

I thought you weren’t supposed to get into water other than a shower for the first 6 weeks so why is the sitz bath ok? 
I have hemorrhoids baaaad and want to use my sitz bath but I’m also 2 weeks postpartum.

Because you aren’t fully submerging into water. It’s just enough water to stay on the outside of your vagina.

My midwife said I was able to have a fully submerged bath immediately postpartum (vaginal delivery with 2nd degree tear and stitches). She just said don’t add anything to the water like bubble bath or anything. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve asked multiple health professionals and where I live they do not tell you to avoid baths unless you’ve had a c-section and are less than 2 weeks pp. Epson salt baths are actually recommended postpartum here 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm curious why some recommend it and others don't even mention it. My OB told me no baths until my cervix closed. Gave me a peri bottle and dermoplast (2nd degree internal and external tear with both kids) and never once mentioned sitz baths to me. She missed the birth of my second because he came way too fast, but the stand in OB didn't mention sitz baths either. My regular OB came to check up on us later in the day and still never mentioned them. The nurses never mentioned them. No one has ever talked to me about them. I still don't even actually know what a sitz bath is 😅

I took epsom salt baths every single night before bed postpartum. With both my babies it was recommended by my midwife and doctor. I didn’t have hemorrhoids but it does help relieve a sore vulva and help heal stitches and lacerations quicker
