Are at-home fetal dopplers ok to use?

They're not advised as they can cause more worry if you can't find the heartbeat, and also some women will put of getting baby checked out if they're worried because they can hear the heartbeat on the doppler.
Lots of women do choose to use them though.

My midwife says never to buy one, as she gets so many calls from panicked women who can’t find baby’s heartbeat/have picked up their own because they don’t know how to use them properly or the Doppler is substandard
