TENANT RIGHTS ?
Hello , everyone! So I recently missed a week of work last week due to having covid for the fourth time and I notified the leasing manager that I tested positive and might be late with the rent . She emails me back saying that the account specialist gives me til the 15th to have all the funds before filing an eviction. I explained my situation to her and she said that it would depend on the judgement at the hearing for the decision but I’m trying to see what would be my rights as a tenant who’s having a little delayed hardship due to covid? I’m in South Carolina btw, I also emailed the leasing office manager asking for an extension because I know my paycheck on Thursday will not be enough and if I could possibly speak to the account manager about my dilemma. Has anyone else dealt with rent while being sick or any tips on what to do ? I don’t have any family to depend on my mother is on disability so that’s not an option. I will have whatever I’m lacking on the 28th when I get paid again so the rent will get paid I just need time till that pay day. I also reached out to legal help and asked questions they said once I’m served with eviction notice I will need to call them back so they could help represent me and get me the extension but doesn’t it take like 4 weeks to get that processed (the eviction) I will have the money in before then if so.
