Can Sofie be a nickname for Sofia or are they two totally different names?

My husb really loves the name Sofia…I’m not in love but I do like Sofie. If we named our baby Sofia would it be okay if I called her Sofie? For some reason my brain is telling me no those are two different names it would be too confusing. Then I think what if she likes Sofie better than Sofia & then has to correct everyone her whole life? I know I might be  overthinking but  that’s just what I do LOL thanks!

Well to be honest, my daughter is Robyn and she goes by Roby mostly but I do call her Roberta sometimes and she’ll answer to Roberta. She’s 11. Her middle name is Elizabeth and I’ll call her Lizardbreath sometimes too and she still answers to it. Sometimes I just throw the whole thing out there and call her Roberta Lizardbreath and she’ll still answer to it lol 
Adyne doesn’t have a nickname, Emma is Em, Dillon is DJ, Robyn we covered, Jack is Jacky mostly, Izadora goes by Iza, Logan goes by Lo, Sàmi has a double first name Sàmi Fox and I mostly call him Mr Fox (he’s 3 almost 4), my youngest is a year old and his name is Indigo and we call him Indi. Nicknames don’t necessarily have to match per se, have fun and be creative.

Absolutely you can use whatever nickname you want my daughters name is Gabrielle but we call her Ellie and I named her that with the knowledge that we wouldn’t be using Gabrielle at all lol. And I have a friend who’s daughter is Amelia and they call her Mia so do whatever you want!

I’m assuming it’s the same even with the Sofia spelling.
