Is two weeks prior to your due date too late for a baby shower?

MIL has delayed doing it due to travel, other grandkids birthdays, holidays, etc. Now she’s set on two weeks prior to my due date. I’ve insisted she doesn’t have to do anything but she still insists on doing something. So I’m holding off on buying things because I’m gambling I’ll get those things at my shower. I feel like two weeks isn’t a lot of time. I could be over thinking this though. I’m a FTM, so what do I know? Hahahahaha!

I had my baby shower at 35 weeks and gave birth at 38 weeks. I would rather rest than have a baby shower 2 weeks before my due date 🥴🥴

I gave birth 2 weeks before my due date 🤣 you could really be giving birth at any moment at that time. So to me yes way too late, you’re gonna have noooo energy. I literally had a meltdown after my baby shower around 25 weeks. I was so thankful for everything but soooo many boxes and things to set up. I was so overwhelmed and out of breath and wish I had my baby shower closer to 30 weeks so I had a bit more energy 
Sooner rather than later for sure!

You never know if you’ll go over or be early. It was feeling horrible two weeks before I gave birth. I had uterine irritability and having contractions all the time. 
I wouldn’t gamble and would get the essentials for the baby shower. At the very least get the essentials— car seat, safe place for baby to sleep like a bassinet/crib, some clothes, some swaddles, burp clothes, wash cloths, towel, cleaning supplies for baby and at least a  changing pad if not table. The hospital will give you wipes and diapers. You can always get bottles & cleaning supplies later if you need it and are exclusively breastfeeding otherwise it’s an essential.
Make sure to order your pump through insurance. 
As far as sterilizing pump parts/bottle parts you can always sterilize in the pot and get one later. Make sure to get good cleaning brushes. 
Hospital should give you peri bottle, stool softeners, nipple pads, some cream, pads (not the best ones) and mesh underwear. I also got an abdominal binder. Get yourself nursing bra, pumping bra, and comfortable clothes, breastfeeding pillow.

Our first was born at 37 weeks and our second at 38, so this timeline would not have worked for us.

My water broke 18 days early with my first. But I have a friend that went into labor 6 days before her due date. It's SO hard to tell😭
