Advice for new BC

Alexis

I need some advice. I'm supposed to be getting my paraguard IUD removed this Friday (it was a 6 month long wait and I'm not even sure if I'll be able to go because we're supposed to be getting 10 inches of snow). I got this IUD directly after having my daughter in February of 2021, at my 6 week appointment. The insertion was actually okay for me, I didn't have very much pain getting it inserted but was on my period when I got it in and bled extremely heavy right after. The cramps were unbearable and I was bleeding so much I woukd go through a pad/tampon every 30 minutes. This has continued up until now, my period have never gotten easier or lighter and no pain has ceased. I went to the ER once 9 months ago because of extreme pain, and was told they couldn't do anything for me because they could feel my strings were in place. On top of all that, sex is unbearable sometimes. When I'm riding or he's going to deep in my and thrusting, I can physically feel my IUD moving. My IUD has also made it so I get extremely swollen around my cervix, sometimes my boyfriend can even fit with lube because I'm so swollen. I called to make an appointment to get this thing taken out in June, its now December. I'm nervous the snow won't let me make it to my appointment, but that's not why I'm posting this. If anyone has a birth control they like that doesn't involve being inserted into my cervix, what would you recommend? I got this one because when I was on hormonal BC (the pill) my acne and anxiety/depression got very bad, so I ended up just stopped taking it. I'd love to hear good/bad experiences with different BC's, and I should also mention that hormonal side affects don't bother me as long as it's a higher likelihood I won't get pregnant
