Recurring BV 😷
I’m 19 years old, and I have had BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) twice in the last year. I was prone to UTI’s throughout my teen years, but I am unsure if that information is relevant in this case. I am fairly hygienic, but I could definitely do better. Sometimes, I don’t shower for a week or two, because I have severe depression. I believe what is causing my BV is my Mirena IUD, which I hear causes your vagina to be more susceptible to bad bacteria, and also my partner’s sperm. We are now trying to use the pull out method, so that I don’t get BV yet again. The first time that I had BV, the doctor prescribed clindamycin suppository cream, and it worked like a charm. The second and most recent time I got BV, my symptoms have not subsided after using the same medication. The only symptom that got better was my odor. The symptoms that I am experiencing now, or have experienced recently include: thick, white discharge, unusual bleeding (I haven’t had a period since March because of my IUD), itching on my labia, bladder discomfort, pain while peeing, light cramps, etc. I need tips for how to prevent recurring bacterial vaginosis, as well as product and medication recommendations!
