I’m having a private scan at 7+2. Do you think this is too early?

I’ve heard you can have scans as early as 6 weeks but I was advised to wait for week 7 due to making mum to be anxious if the sac isn’t formed yet and no heart beat. My first pregnancy so this is all new to me.

I had a miscarriage in October and now I’m pregnant again, I’m now 5wks 3days, but have booked a reassurance scan for when I get to 7wkd 4 days just make sure everything is all good and where it’s supposed be.

this was my scan at 7+5, but it was transvaginal at the doctors office. at an elective ultrasound place your ultrasound will be abdominal and you won’t be able to see as much/as clearly. personally i would wait.

I think it depends what you want. I also have a private scan booked a little earlier than you but it's for my own anxiety. I would like to see the heart beat and confirm everything's on the right place.

I had one when I was 9 weeks and unfortauntely found out I had had a missed miscarriage so I’m so glad I had booked it otherwise I wouldn’t have known until I was 14 weeks. This time I have done the same

I had a dating scan at 6w6d, could see a turd looking thing with a lovely heartbeat so was satisfactory enough. Was transabdominal though which I know a lot of countries don’t do until later in pregnancy (transvaginal instead) so I may have had a more ideal angle to view from.

I had mine at 7+1 and I was able to see our little blob and heart beat. For me it was worth it for reassurance as I previously miscarried around 6-7 weeks. If you want to, do it! If you can wait then you may see a bit more ❤️

A private scan as in one you pay for just for fun? I'd say go to your OB because at 7-8 weeks they usually do your first scan at your first appointment then. I personally wouldn't have a private ultrasound until further along. At 7 weeks you're not going to be seeing more than a little blob to be paying for a private ultrasound when you can have a regular OB appointment with the same ultrasound that can be covered by insurance. Also private ultrasounds are abdominal and that early you won't see much unless you have a transvaginal.

I wouldn’t. You may not see anything and if you do, it won’t be much.

My very first scan was at 7+4 with my OB. Pretty much all you could see was a little heart beat flicker and something that looked like a shrimp. I didn’t even get to hear the heart beat it was so small. 
If you are going to a private scan and not an OB, I would say to wait, as they were only able to see what they saw with a transvaginal ultrasound and a lot of private scans don’t do transvaginal ultrasounds. I did however go get a private scan done at 10w after my initial OB apt and it looked much more like a little baby thing, I could see movement, and HEAR the heartbeat.
