Not sure if this is the right group but I'll ask anyway. Could I please have your advice/experience on owning hamsters (especially if you're UK based!)

I've never had a hamster before but due to my living conditions, time, resources, etc I think it's the most viable pet I could own. I've done my research in terms of cages, maintenance etc but I'm more interested in the actual 'is it worth having a pet hamster' and 'could I connect with a pet hamster' type of advice.
