So I broke up with my significant other of 10 years. So my Uncle said don’t give your heart to nobody else unless I approve of them. I simply told him whether he approved or not the man can still end up doing me wrong. He proceeded to say how I am 33 years old and I could have been married by now with a better future. What the fuck is that supposed to mean? He said I have degrees that I’m not doing anything with and it’s because of my ex. First and foremost no man defines my will, drive or goals in life. I am a mother to 3 beautiful children, a case worker and I just purchased my first house. I definitely have a lot more that I want to achieve but the way he was talking to me was like I’m a bum that does nothing or haven’t achieved anything because I dated a lackluster guy. I hate when people give a man credit for everything. I can achieve many things as a single woman or married woman. And he’s not the first person in my family to say something like this. How would you handle these types of comments? I didn’t want to be disrespectful but I told him I have a bright future with or without a damn man.
