Do you get bothered when baby is constantly being compared to baby’s father’s family?

Does anyone else get butt-hurt / bothered when everyone (especially baby’s daddy’s family) say oh he looks so much like their side of the family? My sister in law is constantly saying how much my newborn daughter looks like her/ has her attitude/ does this and that “like me” and I can’t help but get bothered and annoyed. We don’t have the best relationship. My daughter does look so much like my husband which I love because I love him and she’s our daughter. *duh* but she also has lots of my facial characteristics as well as things that she gets from my family like cheek dimples and such. But they never point out those kinds of characteristics. Ugh I’m just ranting at this point😖

Nope. It's human nature to try to find similarities and connections to babies. They're just excited.  I've got so many other things to waste my energy on. I just let them have their delusion and smile along.

Yes I can’t stand it. And prob bc my husbands family annoys the shit out of me. My daughter came out looking identical to my FIL. Then my MIL tried saying my daughter looked like her and my SIL said the same. Like eww. Please don’t compare her. My child is cute. She doesn’t look like them. Lol

I get bothered when Mil talks to me like this is her baby I’m pregnant with. She always says “my baby is already like me I can tell” …like bitch do yk how weird you sound😃 my mil makes me want to keep everything about my son a secret. I can’t even shower without her trying to be in there.

I should add that it doesn’t bother me that my daughter looks like her dad. It’s the claims from my sister in law that my daughter supposedly has the same attitude as her and has other characteristics like her. And in my mind I’m thinking that she is a newborn and is barely even developing a character. Like… she’s sleeping all the time 😂

His family is constantly telling me she looks like his late mother who passed two years ago. She mostly looks like me of course but she has my husbands blue eyes and chubby cheeks which his mother also had so I can see it somewhat. However Im guessing they only think and say this to me because they miss her and want to see her in my baby. I just let them go on thinking what they want and remember they have good intentions about it. Maybe people just see who they want to in babies. Just hoping they don’t take it to far and my baby has the opportunity to be her own person

Awww, I guess it is alright to feel that way. I think it is because you all do not have the best relationship, as you noted. I have 8 children and I am lucky 1 is my twin and some have my hair and feet but that's it. They look and have mannerism like their Dad. And most of our kids have my father's eyes (which is wild). My partner, his brothers and father all look alike and so do most of our boys. My 1 of our daughters looks just like his sister whom looks a lot like my partner. Genetics are wild! And they comment and people say all the time how much the kids look like their dad and I've definitely been told how one of our daughters looks like she could be his sister's daughter. But I've never had an issue with it. In my family, one of my brothers first born daughter was my splitting image and still is now at 13 years old and I am the child's aunt not mother. And I have always wondered if my sister in law was annoyed or bothered by everyone telling her that so I asked her one day and she said that she was not bothered by it. That she took it as a compliment because she thinks I am beautiful and her husband (my brother) is handsome. Everyone is different though. It is OK to feel as you do. I am sure it won't be like that forever.
