Quitting breastfeeding at four weeks?
My son is almost four weeks old and I’ll start by saying I absolutely hate breastfeeding, loathe it some of the time (I’ll explain later). My daughter couldn’t breastfeed so I said I would try as hard as I could this time around because mom guilt.
This time around my son has taken to it rather naturally, he latches well and drains the breast easily. At night, he feeds great and I don’t mind it at all. During the daytime, from about 11a-5ish pm he is horrendous to feed. He’ll latch, unlatch, latch, unlatch repeatedly which because super painful because he’ll pull himself away taking my boob with him. He’ll bob on my nipple and when I try to latch him he gets frustrated and starts getting angry and crying. If I push the nipple into his mouth when he’s in one of these moods, he’ll bite down with his gums. I’ll calm him and he’ll keep bobbing and will never relatch and just ends up crying. The daily of this is enough to make me want to stop, I can’t keep spending all of this time trying to get him to feed during the day because I have my 18mo old who also relies on me.
When does it get better or has anyone experienced something similar?
