Trying for baby at 43!

Hi lovelies,

I'm in the UK. I want to ask you if you're trying for baby beyond 40, what has Dr recommended? I am 43 and all tests have come back fine for me and hubby. Just waiting for another drs appointment. Not sure what next stage will be. Could it be unexplained fertility or just an age thing..I can't imagine they'll refer me for ivf at this age. Not even sure they'll offer any treatment. Clomid has failed on us too. Thank you xx

There’s a great book by Rebecca F. called It Starts With the Egg. She recommends supplements and that, coupled with acupuncture is what helped me conceive quickly (3 months after starting both) last time. Much love to you on your journey. ❤️ Most MDs give up on us at our age, but don’t let that discourage you. It can happen so long as you still have a period. I chose not to try IVF because of the meds. I prefer natural, holistic methods first.

Hi, I am 44 and my partner 46. We have been trying for almost 3 years. Tried medicated cycles, had my tubes flushed and no success.I also have acupuncture with herbs. We have been offered IVF through a private clinic in London but we have decided against this.I am hoping and praying for a miracle. Please god help us 🙏🏻

Dear Rozeyy, since you are from the UK, try to get the book Trying to Get Pregnant and Succeeding by Marisa Peer. Maybe it can help.Yes, you can be pregnant. Relax as much as you can, don't have too high expectations (maybe it won't work this moment, now), but believe that you can definitely do it. Enjoy and act like you are already pregnant. Believe that you can. I believe❣️

Hi from uk also…i am 42 me and hubby have been trying for our 3rd for 2 years this month, had all tests done, all came back ok..i guess you know how useless the nhs is over here lol..all our fertility doctor wanted to do was sell us ivf..because we already have kids….not an option sadly.I have had 3 chemicals and 1 possibly 2 miscarriages, doctors aren’t interested, tried clomid every vitamin recommended still nothing.I think its just an age thing with us,left it too long to try again. We have a 23 and a 14 yr old.Hope you have better luck than us..currently 7dpo.

Thank you so much lovely ladies. I've had all blood test done and everything is fine. I guess it's just a age thing now. Will keep trying. All the best you all amd thanks for support xx

I’m currently reading Real Food for Pregnancy by Lily Nichols who is a nutritionist/dietitian/researcher/educator she has also written a nutrition book for gestational diabetes. It’s quite an interesting read so far and would recommend because it is very different to some of the other books out there.

The only thing I an being recommended at 42 is donor eggs. My RE agreed to prescribe letrizole yet again but she is not optimistic about my chances at all. In fact I had to argue with 2 of them in 2 different days about the cause of our 6 ivf icsi loses solely being the quality of my eggs. Meanwhile a friend of mine got pregnant naturally and had baby at 40 and now at 41 is 2 months pregnant with the second again naturally. I was given 5 percent chance with my own eggs even with ivf icsi naturally is even less.

Just had my first referral appointment for IVF in the UK, in the county I'm in it has to be started before turning 43 but it differs from county to county. There an extra stage if referral than we were told, so first you get a referral from GP to gyno, then from gyno to IVF, but the appointment with gyno was just the doctor running through a list of reasons they wouldn't refer you, in a quite sneaky way. So, with the extra 6-8 weeks for the IVF referral, added onto the 3-5 month wait for the gyno referral, and the waiting times for a GP appointment ATM, you need around 5.5 months between the first GP appointment asking for the referral and the IVF referral. We missed out just because the waiting times takes us past my 43rd birthday. Obvs there's still private options, and you can get all the preliminary tests done on the NHS.

The best of luck to you. I’m 43 and my SO is 48, we have 2 boys each from previous marriages and they’re all in there early 20s. Schools and/or jobs. We would want more than anything is to have 2 more. I am on the lower spectrum of conceiving. I’m not for certain how his status is yet. My GYN/OB recommends with my age that we go to a fertility specialist and not to waste any time. (Great doc, very encouraging) So we have an appointment on the 23rd of January for a consultation. I’m very optimistic about this. I am wishing all will go well.
