PCOS Diagnosis

I'm wondering if this is normal and not sure where to post. I went to my OBGYN on January 4th for my yearly exam and brought up my issues with my cycle. Painful, heavy, irregular periods with weight gain and facial/body hair. During my pelvic exam, my OB said that I more than likely had PCOS and sent me for bloodwork after my appointment. My insulin and testosterone levels came back elevated and I was diagnosed with PCOS. My OBGYN then proscribed me progesterone to regulate my cycle and that was all. I was just wondering if they should have done an ultrasound or prescribed something else in addition to the progesterone? Or is this pretty typical for first steps? I'm not actively TTC at the moment, but getting ready to soon, and I had a discussion with my OB about that. Does that have to do with being prescribed progesterone only? I started the progesterone today.
