What do you do with your embryos?

I’ve been thinking and pondering. After you do the egg retrieval, fertilization, implantation, etc after you finally get pregnant, once you have your baby what do you do with the other embryos? I mean if say you have 5 frozen embryos, you successfully birth a healthy baby and if you aren’t ready for more babies, do you keep them frozen? Do you donate them? Etc. I’m just curious.

My clinic will freeze the embryos for 2 years with the initial cost of treatment. After that, we have the choice to either pay additional storage fees, donate to a family , or donate them to science. My hubby and I decided that we would donate any additional embryos that we have left to science.  Neither of us could handle potentially have one of our babies out there with another family and not know or have our kids have siblings that they don't know about.  We also didn't like the idea of just destroying them. We figured it was best that they went to a cause, so to speak, that we could live with.

My SIL had 5 left, they’re currently still paying to have them frozen. They’ll likely want more children and want to have those saved! 
After they’re no longer having children, I believe they’ll be destroying them. I personally would consider donating. Just personal preferences!

I have 5 embryos that I’m keeping frozen in the event we want a sibling for our little girl. I’m 36 and my husband is 39, so there’s still a possibility we have want to go for another FET. However, if we decide it’s not for us, then we plan to donate the embryos.

I have 3 that I am keeping frozen for potential siblings in the future. I froze them at age 34 so they will be healthier than doing it in the future since I'm turning 35 this year.

I currently have 8 frozen that I don’t know will ever be used. I will be paying again this year to continue to store them. 
I struggle with the decision of what to do with them after I am sure my family is complete.

My son was my 4th transfer and I have 3 embryos left. We want 2 kids so we are transferring another in about a month or two. If that is successful, and results in live birth, we will donate the remaining 2. If it doesn't, we will transfer until we do get a take home baby or we run out of embryos. I've done 3 retreivals so I won't be doing anymore even if all 3 are unsuccessful. After these 3 are gone, albeit transferred or donated, that'll be that.

Uhg. That's the question, isn't it? Right now we are paying for frozen babysitting for them. It has been almost 6 years. Idk what we will do long term.

You can keep them frozen but I think the storage costs are pretty hefty. You can also donate them

I have 7 healthy embryos (4 that have been genetically tested) that we have kept frozen in case we wanted to use them, then we ended up getting pregnant out of nowhere on our own, so after this baby we will be donating the embryos.
